Mission and Vision
To undertake scientific investigations of the phenomenon of climate change at regional and sub-regional levels and study its impact on various sectors of socio-economic development in order to prepare the country to meet threats to its water resources, agriculture, ecology, energy, health, bio-diversity etc.
GCISC’s mission is to enhance the understanding of global environmental changes and their impacts on Pakistan, with a focus on climate change. The Centre aims to:
- Conduct high-quality research on climate change and its impacts on various sectors, including agriculture, water resources, health, and ecosystems.
- Develop and promote climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies tailored to Pakistan’s unique geographical and socio-economic context.
- Serve as a national repository of climate-related data and information, facilitating informed decision-making and policy formulation.
- Foster national and international collaborations to advance climate research and technology transfer.
- Enhance public awareness and capacity building through education, training, and outreach programs.
