Position Yourself as a Climate Adaptation Leader: Apply for the Training of Trainers (ToT) Program on CLIMADA and the Economics of Climate Adaptation (ECA):

Announcement:
The Global Climate Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC), in partnership with the United Nations University, proudly announces an exceptional opportunity for seasoned professionals: the esteemed Training of Trainers (ToT) Program on CLIMADA and the ECA framework. This initiative is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

About ToT Program:

This flagship capacity-building initiative aims to equip a select group of professionals with cutting-edge expertise in utilizing the CLIMADA modeling platform and the ECA framework to address pressing climate challenges. Participants will receive specialized training and mentorship in:

  • Climate Risk Analysis: Leveraging CLIMADA to assess climate hazards, vulnerabilities, and resulting impacts.
  • Economic Impact Assessment: Evaluating the financial ramifications of climate change and quantifying the benefits of adaptation measures.
  • Strategic Adaptation Planning: Designing and implementing cost-effective, actionable adaptation strategies.

Eligibility Criteria:

The program seeks applications from motivated professionals residing in ICT, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab who demonstrate:

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, preferably with experience in data analysis, modeling, or programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Commitment to Climate Resilience: A strong dedication to addressing climate challenges and advancing Pakistan’s climate adaptation efforts.
  • Leadership and Vision: A clear plan to disseminate expertise by training at least five additional professionals within their networks or organizations.

Program Highlights:

  • Expert-Led Training: Four non-consecutive weeks of in-depth sessions facilitated by internationally renowned experts.
  • Applied Case Studies: Practical training through real-world case studies, using participant-collected data for actionable insights.
  • Knowledge Dissemination Mandate: A requirement to train at least five peers, fostering a community of skilled climate adaptation practitioners.
  • Collaborative Learning Environment: Opportunities to engage with a multidisciplinary cohort from government, academia, research institutions, and other key sectors.
