Message from Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change
It is with great pride that I acknowledge the critical role of the Global Climate-Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC) in Pakistan’s climate strategy. As environmental challenges escalate, the need for informed, proactive policies is paramount. As the Ministry of Climate Change’s research arm, GCISC drives scientific advancement, develops mitigation and adaptation strategies, and informs high-level decision-making.
Focused on key sectors such as agriculture, water resources, and urban development, GCISC conducts pioneering research, generates greenhouse gas inventories, and provides essential climate assessments. Its work equips policymakers with the necessary tools to tackle climate risks and vulnerabilities effectively.
Given Pakistan’s unique climate challenges—rising temperatures, glacial melt, and extreme weather—GCISC is instrumental in shaping national policies and contributing to international climate discussions, while also nurturing future generations of climate scientists.
I commend the Centre’s unwavering commitment to climate action and encourage collaboration across sectors to leverage its expertise. Together, we can secure a resilient and sustainable future for Pakistan”.
